A Little Thing about the Success of Coca Cola Company

Whoever you are, whatever you do, wherever you may be, when you think of refreshment, think of ice cold Coca-Cola

Yes, that’s right! It was one of Coca Cola’s slogans in 1939 in America and Canada. Now, who doesn’t know about Coca Cola? Everyone in most countries in the world knows it, from children to adults, and may be all of them have ever drunk it (except those in Cuba and North Korea because it isn’t sold there, but I’m pretty sure that people there also know about this brand as well). It means this Coca Cola Company has a very good brand awareness. Indeed, Coca Cola Company has started its business for a long time ago since 1892 (while Coca Cola was invented in 1886 by pharmacist Jihn Stith Pemberton), however maintaining the sustainbility of the business itself is not an easy thing though.  Moreover managing a multinational company like Coca Cola is really not easy, there must be a great management and the professionals behind it, which can make it survive and win over the other competitors in this industry. Thus, we have to gain the competitive advantages over the competitors by being better than the competitors in delivering performance and value to the customers.

Coca Cola itself is often referred to simply as Coke, which is a trademark of The Coca-Cola Company in the United States since March 27, 1944,  Coca-Cola was bought by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coke to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century. The Coca-Cola Company has, on occasion, introduced other cola drinks under the Coke brand name and the most common of these is Diet Coke.

Innovation is one of the fundamental aspects of companies’ success performance and Coca Cola Company is always trying to create innovation during its business processes, for examples it produces other variants of Coca Cola such as Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola, New Coke, Diet Coke Caffeine-Free, Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola Zero, Coca-Cola Vanilla, Coca-Cola Raspberry, Coca Cola Black Cherry Vanilla, Coca Cola Blak, Coca Cola Citra, Coca Cola Orange, and special versions with lemon, lime or coffee.

Beside what I have explained above, the quality control of the product produced itself is also an important role in the success of the business. Because if we are not, we will be left by the customer and lose from the competitors which will always improve themselves.

    Beside that, the success of Coca-Cola is also supported by good localization and cross-cultural strategy.
    For instance in China, Coca-Cola makes the Chinese name of its brand: ke kou ke le.
    可Ke: means permission, can, may.(Same pronunciation with “co”)
    口Kou: means mouth(same pronunciation with “ca”)
    可Ke: means permission, can, may (same pronunciation with “co”)
    乐le: means happiness(same pronunciation with “la”)
    So the Chinese name of coca-cola means DELICIOUS and HAPPY.

    in Conclusion, localization strategy has important role and make Coca-Cola as one of the largest MNC in the world.
